A fast, image-first portfolio for a documentary photographer.

Getting out of the way of the work

Lumen’s photographs don’t need help. The brief was closer to an editing exercise than a design one: choose a sequence, hold a rhythm, and build a site fast enough that heavy, full-resolution images never feel like a compromise.

The final build loads its heaviest galleries in under a second on a typical connection, using progressive image loading and a deliberately small type system that never competes with the photography.
